  भौतिक भूगोल ;- पृथ्वी की उत्पत्ति पृथ्वी पर घटित होने वाली प्राकृतिक घटनाएँ, जलवायु की सतह और अन्य गतिविधियाँ

   मानव भूगोल ;- मनुष्य और प्रकृति के बीच परस्पर क्रिया का अध्ययन,मानव निर्मित सड़कें, सेल, विमान, भवन, उद्योग, व्यवसाय आदि।

पृथ्वी के दो मुख्य घटक प्रकृति (भौतिक पर्यावरण) और जीवन के रूप हैं जिनमें मनुष्य भी शामिल हैं।

एक विषय के रूप में भूगोल का मुख्य सरोकार पृथ्वी को मनुष्य के घर के रूप में समझना और इसे बनाने वाले सभी तत्वों का अध्ययन करना है I

मानव भूगोल स्थित पृथ्वी और सक्रिय मनुष्यों के बीच बदलते संबंधों का अध्ययन है। "एलन सी. सेपेल"

हमारी पृथ्वी को नियंत्रित करने वाले भौतिक नियमों और उस पर रहने वाले जीवों के बीच संबंधों के अधिक संश्लेषित ज्ञान से उत्पन्न एक अवधारणा। "पाल विडाल_ डे _ला ब्लोस"
